My issue is illegal immigration I chose this topic because this has been going on for many years. Most of the the people that I know are either are here, in the United States, illegally. Although I am not undocumented this issue is very important to me and it’s very important to other people in the world as well. It’s impacting more than just the undocumented immigrants. It’s important to me because people in my family are here illegally. But they have their reasons. Families migrate across national borders to “look for a better life.” According to a pie graph I found online “70 percent of Mexicans that crossed the border live in poverty.” This means that the immigrants are leaving because they no longer want to live in poverty. This is the idea behind “a better life.” Another thing that is making people want to cross borders illegally is that families are being separated. I believe this causes more problems like corruption, violence, and human trafficking, etc. While I was doing my research it was hard to look for other ethnic groups. Everything mostly talked about Mexicans. In my opinion I believe that the government followed by the politics are trying to put everyone against Mexicans. So that everyone can go against us. Then when they kick us out they can start kicking out other ethnic groups. Like Donald trump wants to do. Kick out Mexicans, kick out Muslims etc. Kick out everyone he feel doesn’t make America “better place.” “At the conclusion of this conflict, the U.S. had added some one million square miles of territory, including what today are the states of Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and California, as well as portions of Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, and Nevada.” Mexico used to own portions until 1848 the united states declared the war on Mexico because they owned those states and the portion on the south west. What I hope to find through my research is how there is so much injustice for undocumented people.
